Session Title: Alternative to Google Application Engine for Java™ Technology-Based Applications
Session Abstract: Google Application Engine significantly simplifies the process of developing and deploying applications on the Internet cloud. This new deployment model is referred to as platform as a service (PaaS). Google Application Engine is a proprietary solution that is currently limited to Python.

This session follows practical steps for deploying and scaling existing standard Java™ Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE platform) technology-based applications on the cloud. It explores how to add dynamic scaling, to avoid static provisioning, and self-healing, to recover from failure, and uses a Java technology-based platform as a service that can run on EC2 as well as on our local environment.

Toward the end, the session demonstrates how to deploy, with a single click, a full-fledged e-commerce application with a database back end (MySQL™ database), load balance, and a dynamic pool of Web containers that scales dynamically as the load increases.
