Session Title:	Getting Started with WidgetFX: Open-Source Widget Desktop Platform with JavaFX™ Technology
Session Abstract:	WidgetFX is a new open-source framework for deploying JavaFX™ applications to users' desktops with the simplicity of one-click installation. It ships with several configurable, skinnable widgets and has a growing repository of user-created widgets, from performance monitors to streaming video. Unlike other widget frameworks, WidgetFX is cross-platform, provides robust security, and can take advantage of existing Java™ and JavaFX libraries, making it ideal for enterprise deployments. Widgets written for it can leverage all the rich media capabilities of the JavaFX platform, such as graphics, animation, and video. Join the community today, and start writing desktop widgets for the JavaFX programming language! This session is aimed at Java and JavaFX technology developers who want to learn how to create desktop widgets. This session covers how to • Convert a JavaFX application to a desktop widget • Package your widget so it will install and execute with one click • Reuse existing JavaFX and Java technology-based APIs in your widget • Develop signed widgets with access to system resources • Communicate with enterprise Web services from the desktop, using JavaFX technology • Hook into existing APIs to do cool things such as interact with hardware, use 3-D, and embed Flash • Build widgets that can also be deployed on mobile devices You can also participate in an exciting widget development contest (TBA at the end of the session!).
